Safety Tips from the Los Angeles Police Department PDF Print E-mail

  • Women please remember to safeguard your handbags/purses on your person while shopping at grocery stores, department stores, etc. Never leave them in the basket while you walk away to retrieve an item.
  • Be cautious when leaving a bank or ATM—Detectives have noticed suspects targeting individuals as they leave these locations with cash. Keep your keys handy as you approach your car, and be aware of persons loitering as you enter and exit these locations.
  • Be aware of residential "knock-knock burglars". If no one answers when they knock on the front door they go to a side or back window/door and enter to remove valuables.

Be alert to any unusual situations in our community—items left in unusual locations, people loitering and seemingly casing the area. Call the Police if the situation causes concern.
