Be sure that you and your family are counted in the 2010 Census. If you have not mailed your form, you will receive a visit from a Census Worker who work temporarily for the Federal Government, but be careful. Census workers do not wear uniforms, but they have an ID badge. Some imposters are knocking on doors, too. Keep your family safe, keep reading for safety tips.

Time for spring cleaning or downsizing you closets and garage?  Don’t toss those collectibles; sell them at the Neighbors United Community Yard Sale on Saturday, May 15 from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.  This will be our 2010 fundraiser.  Neighbors will set up their individual sales at their homes or join with others on their block.

Neighbors United will provide advertising by way of Craig’s List, flyers at businesses, and post signs on street corners on the day of the sales.  Neighbors United is asking that participants share 10% of your sales or a minimum of $5.  Proceeds from the yard sale will fund our Summer Family Party.  For more information or to sign up, email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Would you like to have real-time crime and community information?  Recently our Senior Lead Officer Thomas shared with us information about a new service that is available through LAPD.  It’s called Nixle.

Nixle is a community information service that provides consumers with the most credible, reliable, and up-to-date community information.  Nixle makes this information instantly available over web, mobile, and smart phone devices.  It provides proprietary technology to local police departments, city and municipal governments, and their local agencies and community groups enabling the immediate delivery of geographically relevant information to residents and community visitors, through SMS, web, and email distribution.

Registering to Nixle is now available to all residents.  If you would like to have instant updates sent to your cell phone or computer, go to nixle.com and sign up.
